Blog Post #28 - Final Script
Intro Scene - Getting Inside the House
The movie starts off with a close up shot of a character seemingly running away with heavy breathing. There are 2 second black screen and no audio intervals between the shots of the character running away to set the tone for the rest of the movie. After the last black screen, intense music turns on and the camera angle switches to a high angle shot. As the character runs up to the house and door, the lights that are hanging on the side of the house suddenly switch off. The camera angle switches to an over the shoulder shot of the person twiddling with the keys trying to find the correct one. The camera angle switches once more to a close up shot to get a better view of the struggle that the person is having trying to find the correct key. The person then mumbles "Come on, come on, come on, which key is it" as the camera switches to an over the shoulder shot and quickly to a point of view shot of opening the door.
Entering the House and Searching
A point of view shot of the character entering the house and looking around at the window doors and then kitchen can be seen. The camera angle switches to a pan shot of the person closing the door and heading towards the kitchen. The pan shot goes horizontally to the left to again reveal the window doors but this time, an unknown figure can be seen standing outside of the windows by the pool. The camera is again switched to a point of view shot of the character looking around the kitchen. The character spots a pan sitting on the stove and goes after it, but while grabbing and holding up the pan, the character looks over to its left and spots a PROP knife. The character then drops the pan and heads over towards the knife and pulls it out from the knife holder.
Running and Finding a Place to Hide
The camera switches to a long shot of the character running away further down the house, while at the same time having the same unknown figure on the left hand side of the screen barely visible. The camera transitions into a point of view shot of the character running up the stairs. As he/she is running up the stairs, the camera transitions into a high angle shot looking down at the character as he/she heads up the stairs. The camera is fixated in the same position the entire way through, so as the character passes the camera, the angle is now transitioned into a low angle shot. Next, a pan shot is again used to show the character running into the room and towards a sofa. By the end of the shot the character is seen climbing over the sofa to hide.
Exposing the Unknown Figure
After climbing over the sofa, the camera switches to a low angle shot of the character reaching for a flashlight on the ground. The camera is quickly switched to a point of view shot as he/she grabs the flashlight and turns it on to look over the sofa. As the light is pointed at the doorway at the other end of the room, two hands can be seen grabbing the edge of the door and revealing its face as the character hurriedly looks back down to hide. The camera switches to a high angle shot of the person looking up again with the flashlight in hand as two hands enter the frame by grabbing the edge of the sofa. The camera switches to a low angle shot of the monster's hands grabbing the edge of the sofa and slowly revealing its face to the audience. The camera switches for the last time to a high angle shot/point of view shot of the monster looking down on the character as he or she screams in agony. A sudden zoom in shot on the character screaming will be the last shot of the movie as the screen turns black.
