Blog Post #26 - Emphasizing the Senses

One of the next scenes in my movie shows another point of view shot of the character seemingly spotting a potential weapon to use for protection. This was done for several reasons, including creating a sense of agency and empowerment, creating a sense of danger and foreboding, and creating a sense of urgency and immediacy. I will further explain how this was done in the text below:

Sense of agency and empowerment: By picking up a weapon, the character is taking control of the situation and actively fighting back against the threat. This can make the character seem more capable and resourceful, and can also increase the tension and excitement of the scene as the audience wonders how the character will use the weapon.

Sense of danger and foreboding: If the character is picking up a weapon in a moment of desperation, it can suggest that they are in a very dangerous situation and may need to use the weapon to defend themselves. This can increase the tension and suspense of the scene, as the audience wonders if the character will be able to use the weapon effectively or if it will be taken away from them by the threat.

Sense of urgency and immediacy: By showing the scene from the character's perspective, the audience is able to experience the panic and fear of the moment more intensely, which can increase the emotional impact of the scene and make it more memorable.
