Blog Post #20 - Filming Locations
When filming a horror film inside a house, it's important to choose locations that will enhance the feeling of unease and suspense. Here are some potential locations i considered:
Basement: Basements can be dark and eerie, with low ceilings and creepy corners that are perfect for horror scenes. I looked for areas with dim lighting or add your own lighting to create a more ominous atmosphere.
Attic: Attics are another location that can be creepy and unsettling. I Looked for old furniture, cobwebs, and other details that added to the sense of abandonment and decay.
Bedrooms: I took into account that bedrooms can be transformed into creepy settings by adjusting the lighting and adding spooky props. For example, I could use a flickering bedside lamp or a creepy doll to create a sense of unease.
Hallways: Hallways can be claustrophobic and unsettling, especially if they are narrow and poorly lit. Before filming, I considered using a tracking shot to follow a character down a dark hallway, adding to the suspense.
Stairways: Stairways can also be used to create tension and suspense, particularly if they are narrow or winding. I considered using a camera angle that shows the character descending the stairs from above, or from below to create a sense of disorientation.
Kitchen: Kitchens can be transformed into horror settings by using lighting to create shadows and playing with perspective to create a sense of distortion. While filming, I considered doing a point of view shot of knives or other sharp objects to create a sense of danger.
Overall, when filming a horror film inside a house, it's important to choose locations that will enhance the mood and atmosphere of the scene. By carefully selecting and manipulating the setting, I can create a more immersive and terrifying experience for the viewer.
