Blog Post #13 - Targeted Audience
The normal targeted audience for films within the horror genre is typically teenagers and young adults. Firstly, the horror genre often includes mature themes, graphic violence, and suspenseful elements that may not be suitable for younger audiences. These elements can be intense and disturbing, and may not be appropriate for children or young children.
Secondly, this age group is more likely to be attracted to the thrills and scares that are often associated with horror movies. Adolescents and young adults are at an age where they are starting to explore their own fears and are more open to being scared by movies. They also might be more open to experiencing a sense of adrenaline rush when watching a horror film.
Additionally, the horror genre can also appeal to a wider audience that includes adults and fans of the genre. The horror genre can explore dark and complex themes that might be of interest to adults. Horror movies can also be seen as a way of exploring the darker side of human nature, and the psychological and supernatural elements of the genre.
In conclusion, the targeted audience for films within the horror genre is primarily teenagers and young adults due to the mature themes, graphic violence, and suspenseful elements that the genre often includes and the thrill and excitement that it offers to the audience. However, it's worth noting for my project that horror movies can also appeal to a wider audience that includes adults and fans of the genre.
